Whiskey Marinated Steak
With Bourbon whiskey in the marinade, you can't go wrong!
Prep Time: 10 min Marinating Time: 4 hours
WHAT YOU NEED:
1½ lbs. London broil, top round, or flank steak
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup whiskey (eg, Kentucky bourbon such as Jim Beam)
¼ cup canola oil
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
MAKING IT:
Whisk together soy sauce, whiskey, oil, Worcestershire sauce and garlic. Place meat in marinade, turning to coating both sides.
In a glass dish, marinate meat in refrigerator for at least 4 hours (for best results marinate overnight), turning occasionally.
Remove meat from marinade. Discard leftover marinade. Grill over medium heat until internal temperature reaches 145◦F (for medium, warm pink center); 150◦F (for medium-well, slightly pink center) 160◦F (well done, no pink).
Let steak rest about 5 minutes before cutting into thin slices across the grain.
Serves: 6
TIP: It's important to discard leftover marinade that has been in contact with raw meat. If it is boiled in a saucepan for 5 minutes, however, it can be used to serve steak "au jus."
