Granny’s Sugar Cookies

Granny’s Sugar Cookies

A super fun recipe for families to make together for any holiday or celebration! 

Prep Time: 30 minutes    Refrigeration Time: 1-2 hours  

WHAT YOU NEED:

½ cup butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

½ tsp. vanilla

2 - 2¼ cups all purpose flour

2 tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. salt

MAKING IT:

With an electric mixer on medium speed, cream together butter and sugar.  Blend in the egg and vanilla.  Sift together flour, baking powder, salt.    Add flour mixture to butter-sugar mixture, blending well. 

Divide dough into two parts.  Chill dough at least 1 hour. 

Preheat oven to 375◦F.  Roll dough, one part at a time, to 1/8-inch thickness on a floured surfast; with Tupperware (or any) cookie cutters.  Keep the other part of the dough chilled until ready to roll. 

Transfer to cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.  Cool cookies on wire racks. Frost and decorate as desired with homemade or ready-made frosting. Makes about 2 dozen.
